Remedial Saddle Fitting for the Horse

Horses and ponies all require saddles that suit their particular type and breed and are comfortable for their specific condition. A correctly fitted saddle allows the full range of movement to come through, enabling them to realise their potential. Without this equines may experience back pain and be unable to perform to the optimum. They can display resistance, loss of scope or flexibility, an uneveness of gait and other performance related imbalances. These problems, in turn, can cause them to exhibit behavioural traits that make them unpleasant, difficult or even a risk to their riders and handlers.

Our belief is that correctly fitted saddles enable each horse to achieve a performance closer to its true potential, spending less time off work, behaving better and being a source of pleasure to their owners.

To achieve this we have created a course that will teach you, its participants, to recognise the symptoms of ill-fitting saddles. You will understand the physical and behavioural complications arising from this and will be able to correctly measure a horse for its saddle and fit this accurately.
